Крупный курортный район с разнообразным рельефом на севере Калифорнии (горы Тринити [Trinity Mountains], предгорья Каскадного хребта [Cascade Range], озеро Шаста [Shasta, Lake], национальные лесные заказники Шаста и Тринити [Shasta National Forest, Trinity National Forest] и др.). Управление зоной осуществляется Службой национальных парков [National Park Service] и Лесной службой США [Forest Service]. Площадь около 17,2 тыс. га
